Lovely Layers - DeNami Design Challenge

DeNami July Blog HopStarts July 10th @ 6am pst

Wow, I'm so excited...this is my first ever blog hop!! It's being hosted by DeNami Design (love love love their stamps!!). I know a lot of work must go into these events so I'd like to give them a big THANKS and a pat on the back for the awesome job they do and for allowing us to have such a wonderful opportunity as this to show off all of our creativeness in such a fun way.  Why do we do this....To be inspired by beautiful creations featuring DeNami Design stamps and also the chance to win mini shopping sprees on the DeNami Design website (we can't forget that!!)!

Hopefully you have arrived here from the very talented Laurie's blog (love her attention to texture and her designs... wow.). If not, please back track to her or the DeNami blog, we don't want you missing anyone. Ohh, and please don't forget to leave her a comment...as you know, we bloggers LIVE for comments, plus, it enters you into the random drawing to win a wonderful DeNami Design gift certificate...now who doesn't love a new stamp?!?! TWO gift certificates to TWO people who comment along the hop...how awesome is that!?! You have until July 11, 2011, 11:59 pm PST, to leave comments on all the blogs (to be eligible for a prize).

Well, here's my take on "lovely layers"...hope ya'll like it!
Each individual element is comprised of 3 layers...that's a lot of layers!!!
I'm horriable at taking pictures...the paper looks bright but it's all pastel and the dots are sparkley

For the sundae: I colored the ice cream and cherry in with pencils and use gamsol for the watercolor look then traced the stamped image of the cherry stem in chocolate and the glass in pool . I then added crystal Stickles for the ice cream, frosted glass Stickles for the glass and distressed bronze Stickles for the stem.

For the sentiment: I stamped the image in white, then used the same pool blue color I used on the glass and re-stamped the image just barely off of the original (fake embossing technique) and since I wanted it just a little darker, I stamped it again using the blue in the exact position as I did the first blue colored stamping

Items I used:
  • DeNami stamps - ice cream sundae and Thoughtful Greetings
  • white card stock and Doodlebug brand papers
  • Marvy scallop punch - 2" , 2 1/2" and 3"
  • Creative Memories 12" wavy trimmer
  • Roseart colored pencils for ice cream and cherry
  • Gamsol
  • white ink pad
  • Markers - Zig (chocolate) for stem and Memory Marker (pool) for glass & greeting
  • Stickles - Crystal, Frosted Lace, Xmas red & distressed bronze
  • Pink and white ribbons
  • buttons
  • bling
  • adhesive
  • glue dot (for bow)
  • pop dots

Well, I hope you enjoyed your visit and hope to see you back again sometime. Please leave me a comment...I even appreciate constructive criticism (how else do we learn??). Now off you go to see the wonderful creativeness of
Pattie (her cards are so whimsical and pretty). Hop along and have a great day!!

Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think....good or bad....or even better - what would you have done differently??...crafty minds wanna know!
